Does Facebook Follow Wherever You Go ??

Is user privacy at stake with Facebook by tracking down the websites users visit ?

A famous Hacker Nik Cubrilovic reports that Facebook can track the pages you visit even when you are logged out of Facebook. He points out in his personal blog that Facebook cookies remain active even when logged out and is sending information when you visit a web page with Facebook button or widget. This could defeat the purpose of logging out of Facebook.

Cubrilovic’s claims are based on his analysis of HTTP headers sent by browsers to Facebook.com. He says the tests are repeatable by anyone with a browser that has development tools installed. If correct, this could be a potentially serious violation of privacy concerns of users.

Facebook ,in response to this stated that "Facebook does not track users across the web. Instead, we use cookies on social plugins to personalize content, to help maintain and improve what we do , or for safety and security. No information we receive when you see a social plugin is used to target ads, we delete or anonymize this information within 90 days, and we never sell your information."

If you are worried of this concern ,You could delete  all Facebook.com cookies every time you use Facebook or could use   browser extensions to block Facebook services on third-party sites.Extensions like Facebook Privacy List for Adblock Plus  , Facebook Disconnect can serve limited purpose.

If you are concerned ,you should take steps to protect your privacy .Do you think Facebook has vested interst in digging out information on you and your surfing habit ??
